This project is both a reaction to and protest against the historical and ongoing act of book banning—a practice that has surged in recent years as political and ideological divisions deepen across the United States. Each image is a deliberate distortion of a book that has been banned or challenged throughout the history of the U.S., reflecting the way censorship erases narratives, silences marginalized voices, and restricts access to knowledge. At a time when the freedom to read is under threat, this work serves as both a warning and a call to action.

A Clockwork Orange - Anthony Burgess
Fahrenheit 451 - Ray Bradbury

Brave New World - Aldous Huxley
Ender's Game - Orson Scott Card

Grapes of Wrath - John Steinbeck
Of Mice and Men - John Steinbeck

Slaughterhouse-Five - Kurt Vonnegut
The Great Gatsby - F. Scott Fitzgerald

Their Eyes Were Watching God - Zora Neale Hurston
To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee

I hand-bound a physical copy of each book to scale, preserving its form while erasing its content. By stripping these books of their words, I mirror the impact of book banning: a world where entire narratives can be silenced, rewritten, or erased from public consciousness.
